Phoenix restaurants, near Tapatio
We will be staying at the HIlton Tapatio for a few days in March with kids. I am looking for restaurant suggestions close to there, looks like it is a little out of the way on the map. We like Mexican, southwestern, steaks. Any opinion of the restaurants on the property, it says there are four in the guidebook. Many thanks, Betsy

Their restaurant at the very top of the property is actually my favorite in the whole valley. (I thing it's called Different Point of View...) It has spectacular city/mountain views and delicious food. It's not cheap. A meal for 2 with wine runs around $200, as I recall. The restaurant downstairs is more casual but also has great food. (Different Point in Time??)

I just changed our hotel to Squaw Peak, any restaurant ideas around there? We have 3 kids so casual would be best. Thanks, Betsy

You mite want to start a new thread with a new title to get better results.

Any more restaurants in the Tapatio Cliffs neighborhood? What would I call the area/neighborhood if I wanted to ask someone?
|
BetsyG,
Not more than ¼ block away (i.e. walking distance) is Aunt Chillada's Mexican restaurant: http://www.auntchiladas.com/ They have great food at reasonable prices. Check out their 2008 awards on the web site. Definitely much cheaper than the Squaw Peak hotel! |
I second the Aunt Chilada suggestion. It serves great food indoors or outdoors. Very informal.
|
Is that near Squaw Peak or Tapatio Cliffs?
|
Aunt Chiladas web site indicates it is "in the shadow of Squaw Peak." Any other Squaw Peak area restaurants to recommend? We will be there in a couple weeks.
Thanks. taitai |
I'm looking for restaurants around Tapatio Cliffs.

Try Via Delosantos, on Central, closer than Aunt Childas. AC is big and fun, I'm not knocking it. They have a great happy hour and the huge patio is a great hangout, but Via De has much better food (more authentic) and margaritas. The wait is worth it. Try the fajitas calabacitas and tamales if you make it past the chips and salsa.

For a very good Italian deli, try Tony's Deli at 7th st and Dunlap
