Phoenix restaurants

I will be staying at the Kimpton Palomar for several days in April. About ten friends from high school will be joining me. I would like some restaurant recommendations in the area. As I understand it, shopping is quite limited. Is that accurate? I am told to plan a day in Scottsdale if we want to shop.
Thank you.

Scottsdale is the place to shop but there are shops right near the hotel.

Will you all have cars or means to get to restaurants or do you need to eat in area?

We won't have cars. We would like to walk to meals rather than have to take cabs if we can. We always like strolling after a meal.
I am told the hotel has a good restaurant, but we would like to explore a bit. One of the TA reviews mentions a great breakfast place near the hotel but doesn't name it. Any idea what it might be?

We did have dinner at hotel, it was good. We only stayed 1 night so I am not much help. I would call the front desk and ask, they were super friendly and helpful.

I have their suggestions. You are right they are super friendly. Hoping a local might chme in with some ideas.

I've eaten at this place a number of times and the food is excellent. You may need to call for reservations as they fill up quickly:

Postino's Wine Cafe
3939 E. Campbell Ave
Phoenix, 85018

According to the map, it looks like the wine bar is a pretty good ways from the Palomar. I would love a recommendation near the hotel to which we can walk if possible.

Should anyone else have the same question, here are my recommendations. The Arrogant Butcher, noisy and very busy, but excellent food. The Breakfast Club, terrific service and very well priced choices, every onr of them quite good. Kincaid's, very good food, exceptional service. Lustre, great apps, service beyond slow. The Blue Hound, outstanding service, good food, lots of variety. One thing I loved about Phoenix dining was the ease of getting separate checks. I will do complete reviews of the Palomar, which I loved, and the restaurants on tripadvisor under the same screenname.

If you can't find restaurants within walking distance and are willing to take a cab, we really liked Beckett's Table and Tarbells.

We liked Zinburger for a good cheeseburger.

I liked Blanco Tacos, but my family wasn't crazy about it. Blanco and Zinburger are owned by the same restaurant company.

Enjoy Phoenix!

The wonderful breakfast place is right outside the hotel door. It gets very busy on weekends so early would be better. I had a very nice lunch at Kincaids. I would think dinner would also be good. The trolley runs right past the hotel so that might broaden your shopping and dining options.

Ah, just noticed you've already been. I'm glad you had fun.

We had a fabulous time, Birdie!

I recently ate at True Foods restaurant in Scottsdale. There is one at Biltmore Fashion Square in Phx.had the panang curry dish which was excellent. (dr. Andrew Weil concept).
If your looking to shop in Scottsdale, beyond the average mall, recommend Scottsdale Quarter and Kierland (across from each other).
