Phoenix hotel near airport for family

We are looking for a nice hotel (possibly with a suite) fairly close to the airport for mid April (just for one night). Swimming pool required!! Thank you.

It has been a few years, but I don't recall any decent hotels near the airport. We had an absolutely horrible experience -- literally, dead roaches in the tub when we checked in -- and we headed back up the highway north, went about 15 minutes, and there were plenty of choices from among the usual chain motels. It's not a bad ride to the airport, so don't lock yourself into thinking that you have to stay nearby.

Just stayed at the Sleep Inn Airport in Phoenix. No suites, but a small outdoor pool. Clean, well-maintained, helpful staff, and a well-stocked breakfast room which was handy due to our early flight.

Stayed at Holiday Inn Select at the airport last year. Perfectly fine - has a pool I believe - free shuttle from airport. Not sure about the suites though.

Also just down the street is a Doubletree if you can't find a suite at the HI.

I was just through that area today and there are quite alot of motels, especially in the 44th and Van Buren area....I believe one was Doubletree Suites....if you can get a website on the internet for that location, you will find them....they all looked great....maybe a AAA tourbook would do the trick.

Nice motel on east-west strip to Mesa. Can't think of the name but it has a Arizona shaped pool. Call for details.

Quite a few nice places on 44th street. You can choose from a Doubletree Suites (320 N. 44th St.) to an Embassy Suites 1515 N. 44th St.) There is also a Marriott (1101 N. 44th St.) and a Holiday Inn Select (4300 E. Washington. Corner of 44th and Washington.) When you decide on a place please post back here. There are a lot of motels near the airport that you want to avoid.

I got a Doubletree Guest Suites Airport room (Phoenix Airport area) for 2 nights at $37/night using Priceline. You might want to try it. My room was for late April.

I've stayed at the Doubletree Suites mentioned above (320 N. 44th St.) during Fiesta Bowl and it was great for the price. I know we payed under $100 per night. There are two full rooms - a living room with tv and pull out couch and a bedroom with tv (with a door to close off from the lr). Good size bathroom in between. Great for families. I've seen the pool but not used it - looks like a good size and layout. Really can't hear planes overhead and has a bar/restaurant on site. Also get warm choc chip cookies and comp. cocktail coupons when you check in! I'd stay again for a quick stop.

I'm not sure if this info is too late for you...
I stayed at the Residence Inn on 44th St. It had suites, and was a nice place. It also had a pool.

To our Phoenix Phodor Phriends: I have to go to PHX for 3 days next week. Company put me at the Embassy Suites/Biltmore on E. Camelback.
Any good restuarants nearby?

Mahalo,
