Phoenix airport from Sedona
 

If I have a 2pm Friday flight leaving Phoenix, do you think I can leave Sedona at around at 9 that same morning, return a rental car, and be there in plenty of time to catch US fight?
mapquest says 2 hours to drive to airport, I've read to add another hour to return car and get shuttle to airport, but sometimes it's better not to assume everything you read is correct! I've never been to this airport, so know nothing about the length of security lines.

We've made the drive from Sedona to PHX to catch a flight also. In addition to the time for returning the car and catching the shuttle to the airport (which seems to be one of the longer, in-town shuttle trips I've taken for rental cars), allow for traffic. We were held up by stop-and-go traffic that ate up at least another 45 minutes. Good thing we allowed plenty of time.

Phoenix has some really terrible traffic. Luckily you won't be there during the heavy morning commute -- but I wouldn't take googlemaps or mapquest times and assume they are even close to accurate. I'd count on 2.5 to 3 hours and if it takes less there are some good restaurant options at the airport where you can kill time.
