PHL airport direction ?
If you were going to drive to PHL from western PA Christmas Eve morning (via the Turnpike) and arrive in the greater PHL area between 8-9 a.m. … would you take the Turnpike to the Schuylkill or the Turnpike to 476 to 95?
We are parking a PreFlight off 291 which is north/east of the airport facility itself.
Thanks in advance.

Most certainly 476 ("Blue Route") to 95. That way you'll avoid potentially nasty rush hour traffic on the Schuylkill, even on Christmas Eve morning. But do tune into the radio traffic reports as you enter the city (1060AM KYW is a good choice). Traffic every ten minutes. If there's some sort of pile-up on the Blue Route you may wish to avoid it.

I haven't driven to PHL from that direction, but from a map it sure looks shorter to take the Schuylkill to the Blue Route (476) instead of backtracking out of your way from the Turnpike (276 at that point) to 476. Probably 10 miles out of your way. So it appears getting off the Turnpike at Valley Forge (staying on 76; Turnpike changes to 276 there) and sticking on 76/Schuylkill to 476 would be shortest. But, I don't know that stretch of the Schuylkill at all. Only driven the part closer to Philly.
Anyway, you wouldn't want to take the Schuylkill all the way into Philly to get to the airport - definitely take 476 around Philly to 95.

From most parts of western PA< your best bet really is to take the PA turnpike (76/276) to 476 South to 95 North. You might shave off a couple of miles by taking the Schuylkill, but IT IS A NIGHTMARE. Period. Especially through the Manayunk/Philly area.
I believe your parking area is exit 13 but obviously you'll want to double-check mapquest.

Trust me, you won't want to get off the Turnpike at Valley Forge. That exit is always a mess as is I 76. Last minute shoppers will be corwding the King of Prussia Mall which is at the Valley Forge exit.
Just take the turnpike to the exit for the Blue Rt. and go to 95.

I dunno, but I'll be taking the Blue Route to PHL Thur just after noon - looks like it ought to be fine by then! Actually, the roads up north of Philly were fine this morning - it's the sidewalks that were slippery as could be.

Sorry for not replying sooner - we made it to PHL ... not easily, but we made it.
We left Harrisburg at 6 a.m. to a solid inch of ice on everything. When we reached the Turnpike ramps we were greeted with the news both east and west were shut down from Harrisburg to Morgantown due to a horrific fatal accident.
So, in the ice we went through Lancaster/Reading and eventually to the Turnpike. Once on the Blue Route all was well, hardly any traffic. Found our parking with no problems and waited for our plane to leave eight hours late. Joy of flying!
Thanks for everyone's help.
