Philly which hotel?

I am deciding between the Hampton Inn on Race st or the Doubletree on Locust Please advise I am from Wisconsin Thanks

I would prefer the location of Doubletree on Locust. It is closer to Rittenhouse Square area, Walnut Street Restaurants and shopping (other side of Broad Street), etc... I personally do not like the Race Street area. It would be nice to walk over there during day for lunch in China Town, but thats about it.

I second carly's suggestion. Doubtletree is on a much nicer street.<BR>Race St.location would never be my option when choosing a hotel.

I third carly's suggestion for all the same reasons. Check out the Sofitel, better hotel and better location. You can frequently get good rates. Check out quikbook.com.

I also put in a vote for the Doubletree. I have stayed there, and it is a nice property. Also, the Hampton Inn is not in the best location of Downtown. The Doubletree is centrally located on the Avenue of the Arts (South Broad Street) within walking distance to Rittenhouse Square and the many great restaurants along Walnut Street between Broad and 18th Streets.

Another vote for the Doubletree here. .

I can't imagine ever choosing a Hampton over a DoubleTree! Another vote for DT.

I agree with Frank re the Sofitel ~ have stayed there several times and have never found a better hotel in Philly. Great rooms and the staff must have written the book on 'Service Excellence'! Great location in Rittenhouse Square. If the Four Seasons is too costly, the next best is the Sofitel!

I agree about Sofitel. I have not stayed at Doubletree though. Also look into Westin, Sheraton Rittenhouse and Radisson Warwick for more ideal locations. You may be able to get great rates.
