Philly hotels when the Omni is booked?

We are looking for a centrally located hotel in downtown Philadelphia and can't get a room at the Omni (our first choice). What experiences does anyone have with other hotels there? Thanks already.

I was in Philadelphia a couple of years ago and got "stuck" in a Days Inn because of my convention lottery. It turned out to be very convenient and very nice. It was in a renovated bank building and I had a large and very comfortable suite.

We just spent a weekend at the Latham. It's a small hotel and the restaurant is closed right now. Decent location with nearby restaurants and a few blocks from Reading Market etc. We walked most of the time.

Here is a list of hotels around the Omni, might give you an idea of where you want to stay:

Thanks for the ideas. I'll check them out. We have looked at the Sofitel, the Morris House and the Penn House. Anyone have experience with any of these?

No I don't know those...but we stayed at The Rittenhouse and loved it. We primarily went for a wedding but really liked our room.

Hopeline, I've heard good things about Sofitel and Morris House. Sofitel is a little further away from the historic district, but it is still walkable as is the Rittenhouse Square area. Morris House is smaller and looks quite nice. I think either would be a good choice.

The SOfitel is a wonderful hotel and is at 17th and Samson. The Radisson Warick is on 17th and Locust and has just been renovated. The Westin is at 17th and Chestnut....these 3 hotels are within about 3 blocks of each other and all are really nice. I have stayed in them all a number of times. Down in the historic distric you can try Society Hill Sheraton...a while since we have stayed there but in nice location if you want to be down in that part of town. there is also a Marriott and a Hyatt around Broad Street which is about 1/2 way between Rittenhouse area and Historic district.

I've stayed at the Warwick, near Rittenhouse Square, many times; always great. It's now owned by Radisson; excellent and helpful staff, spotlessly clean.
