philadelphia to JFK

Hi,

I am going to travel from center city Philadelphia to JFK on Wednesday for a 6 pm international flight. I will have a large rolling duffel, probably about 4 pounds or so.

What are my options (not able to drive)?
I am thinking limo from my house here in Phillie, take train to Manhattan and then the airport bus or the subway (if not stairs involved).

If I use limo from Phillie, if anyone knows the name of a good one?

Thanks to all!

Bonnie

Check out the suggestions on the JFK airport website

www.panynj.gov/aviation/jgtsmain.htm

and scroll down to the PA section.

I think that must be 40 pounds - unless the duffle is empty.

You can easily take Amtrak to Penn Station and the the LIRR to Jamaica where you can switch to the Airtrain.
Check the JFK web site for details.

But taking the LIRR will involve a flight of stairs - since train tracks are announced only about 8 to 10 minutes before departure. (I know Amtrak has people to deal with luggage and elevators - don;t think LIRR does - but you could double check.)

The other option is to take a shuttle bus from Manhattan to JFK.

I definitely agree that the trip on Amtrack to Penn Station and then on the LIRR/Airtrain is the fastest option.

I believe there is an elevator at one end of the platforms at the LIRR Jamaica station (where you transfer to the Airtrain), but I'm not certain. Same at Penn Station; there are some elevators or escalators on the platforms, but they're not exactly convenient. It may be difficult to completely avoid stairs, so be forewarned.

You might avoid more stairs if you took the New York Airport Service bus from Penn Station, but it would certainly take longer.

This company does not serve the Philadelphia airport but I believe it has a pick-up location in the Philadelphia area for going to JFK or Newark: www.goairporter.com

I have not used them for Philadelphia/NY trips but we made reservations last spring when we had to get from Newark to JFK and found they were very helpful.
