Philadelphia to Boston
Guys what is the cheapest way to get from Philadelphia to Boston August 9-12?
Thanks |
$169 round trip on American and JetBlue according to Kayak.
Driving would be 2 tanks of gas plus tolls...the bridge is about $15. Amtrak was more expensive than flying the last time I looked. |
The Chinatown express buses, with a change in NYC; or a similar bus service if you are uncomfortable using these companies.

About $165 Amtrak roundtrip for those dates (10% less if you have AAA)
Just under $100. on Boltbus www.boltbus.com |
Amtrak Northeast Regional into Boston South Station is $69 but takes 6 hours. Leaves Philly at 5:15am or 6:45am. Return is 5:30pm arrive 11:30pm.

How many people?
I've found on SOME occasions that, for two people, renting a car from one city to another is cheaper than mass transit, even after paying the drop off fee. For three people, this is almost a given. If you can do the drive in less than 24 hours (not easy for everyone, but do-able), the cost can be close for even one person. |

Not all mass transit. I figure that for two it would cost $48 one way to go from Philadelphia to Boston using a Chinatown bus service. Even if the rental were less than that per day, one would have to add gas and tolls to the total. |
I don't know how you get the fare, but megabus offers some $1'tickets. It's full fare must be pretty cheap too.
