Philadelphia: Rittenhouse or Park Hyatt Bellevue
I'm going to be in Philadelphia for a long weekend in May. Proximity to the Kimmel Center is key. I'm looking at luxury properties and have narrowed my choices to a Deluxe Room at The Rittenhouse or a Park Deluxe King at The Bellevue. I've read mixed reviews for both. Has anyone stayed at either recently? Thanks!

I can't comment on the rooms at the hotels, but obviously the Park Hyatt is better in terms of proximity to Kimmel Center. In fact, I would bet that you'll be back in your hotel room at the Park Hyatt before the other concert-goers even can get their cars out of the parking garage!
Having said that, the Rittenhouse won't be farther than a 10-min stroll, and it should be reasonably nice in May weather-wise.
Have you already read the most recent reviews of both hotels over on tripadvisor?

flyer,
I live in Philadephia and in May I would stay at the Rittenhouse-it is a 10 minute walk to the Kimmel instead of 2.
Rittenhouse Square will be particularly pretty at the time of year-while the Bellevue faces Broad Street-one of the widest& busiest avenues in the city.
(although i haven't stayed overnight in either-I've attended functions and had tea in both.)

I have stayed in the Rittenhouse on a number of occasions thanks to a generous client and always liked it a lot. I had large, beautiful rooms, vast bathrooms (2 phones and a shower big enough for a crowd, in addition to a tub). Staff were completely competent, food was good, and the location is wonderful, with lots of shopping nearby, if that is an interest.

The Rittenhouse, Ritz and Bellevue are completely different properties, so it depends if you prefer modern and a bit more spacious, or older, historic and gracious.
I agree with Thin that the Ritz would be my choice, both for luxury and proximity to the Kimmel. Just be sure your room doesn't face the city hall clock if you like a dark room for sleeping.
My second choice would be the Bellevue, though probably because of nostalgia, my love of older architecture and the hotel's place in Philadelphia history. I can't speak to the rooms though. I've given several parties in their restaurant in the past year or so, but haven't actually stayed overnight since my coming out 15+ years ago.
Both are on Broad Street (the Avenue of the Arts), which is a vibrant location. Rittenhouse Square is lovely, but I'd probably walk around and not through it on the way back from the Kimmel at night as it the sleeping accomodation of choice for a large number of homeless during the spring and summer months.
