The Dairy Gift Shop Central Park

Would the Dairy Gift Shop be worth visiting with a group of teenagers? Are there souvenirs there that they would be interested in?

Typical souvenirs you'd find in other gift shops -- magnets, T-shirts, caps, books -- with "Central Park" on them. The building itself has interesting architecture. However, it's worth the visit because a minute or two away you will find the carousel which is a great ride for both adults and children.

Actually - the dairy and the building formerly known as "Tavern on the Green" have improved dramatically in their offerings and the money spent at the Park gift shops goes to the Park.

Please take your kids to the Public Library while they are here as well.

I didn't mean to imply that the Dairy has heap stuff. The nature of the shop is more like a museum gift shop than a souvenir store.

The Dairy is quite a beautiful building. I attended an evening wedding there in 1984 when the Park Department allowed such things. Sara Foster, out of CT, was the caterer and it was at the start of her career. It was an amazing experience that I didn't fully appreciate at the time. It certainly can't be replicated. Aaah, but it was the '80's.

You can see photos of this event and the Dairy in Martha Stewart's book, "Weddings".
