Philadelphia Italian Restaurants

Can anyone point me in the right direction. I'll be in Philly for a few days. I hear there is a part of town called South Philly. Can you recommend a few authentic Italian restaurants.

Ristorante Tre Scalini

You should definitely check out the 9th Street Italian Market, too.

You'll want to be roughly between Christian and Washington, 9th and 11th. The Italian Market is not as Italian a market as it used to be, but still a unique shopping experience. Tre Scalini is an excellent choice. Another would be Dante & Luigi (10th & Catharine / 215.922.9501)

what are you asking? this forum is filled with posts from you as the philly expert who lives in philly. what do you mean you hear there is part of town called south philly? are you pulling our collective legs?

Too bizarre for words. Someone who lives in Philadelphia, and has apparently lived there for ages, who constantly posts recommendations for his city, suddenly posts this strange question. What does that mean "I'll be Philly for a few days"? Does that mean you're moving from your home soon? And how could you have lived there as long as you seemingly have and only "heard" about a part of town called South Philly? Why are you asking this?

Sunriseway: You are a liar and have no credibility.

Just to refresh your memory sunriseway,
your left field, lower level Phillies seats are in South Philly.

Here are a couple of suggestions from someone who seems to know, but apparently has an extremely short memory:

"Author: sunriseway

Message: If you want a great pizza before the ball game go to Marra's on Passyunk Ave You can take the subwaay there. Best pizza in Philly. Best hoagies are at Primos on Ritner at 16th, all in South Philly. Its the safest part of the city because the wise guys run it."

Yep, guess you "heard" right, sunriseway, there really is an area called South Philly and this person seemed to know about it. You and the other sunriseway should really get together sometime and compare notes.

i came here a couple days ago to search for south philly restaurants and made some notes. then i realized the strange contradictions being made by sunriseway who seemed to have the most recommendations. so what are we to do? are these good places or not? any other suggestions for reasonable priced authentic italian in south philly? kind of hard to accept the places recommended by someone who is seemingly making everything up.
