Philadelphia - Hilton City Avenue or Hampton Inn Central City?

Which one would you pick? I want to be able to easily/safely get to historical and cultural sites while DH is in meetings.

Just on the basis of location, you'll want to stay at the Hampton. It's downtown. The Hilton isn't near any of the spots you want to visit.

wsoxrebel, I just booked a night over Thanksgiving weekend at Hampton Inn. It is a great location, just around the convention center from Reading Terminal market, in close proximity to the historical area and also Chinatown for interesting Asian restaurants (I particularly like Vietnamese there).

Also, I don't know if you realize it but that Hampton Inn has just undergone complete renovation of every room. Renovation is complete except some hallways are still being recarpeted (I called about this last weekend). The indoor pool is closed. Parking (valet) is $16, $5 cheaper for selfpark. And free hot breakfast. My AAA rate was only $125, a real bargain.

Yep, I agree with these posters -- the Hilton on City Line Ave. is very inconveniently located for visiting Philadelphia's historical and cultural sites.
