Philadelphia Convention Center to Airport

What would be the best way to get from Philadelphia Convention Center to the airport (for two teachers) Airport Shuttle? Transit system?
Ideas?
We have a 2 hour time period on Monday at noon.
~~Thank you!

Market East Station is right at the Convention Center:

Wow Thank you, Liz!
We are staying at the Club Quarters 1628 Chestnut Street
At 17th Street.
What do you recommend to get from the Airport to there at 9:30 at night?

I'd probably take a taxi at that time, but maybe somebody who lives in the city will chime in (I live in the burbs...)

I was just in Philadelphia last weekend, but, from DC, we drove so I cannot help on airport logistics. If you have questions about city sightseeing post away and perhaps I can help you.

The airport is a good distance from downtown--same as in most big cities.

I don't think 9.1 miles is a great distance:

What type of food do you like, tncricket? You're near Rittenhouse Square with a hundred choices. I like A. Kitchen and Parc for dinner or breakfast. Tinto is wonderful. I could go on and on. You can do a search where you'll find a lot of other suggestions.

Thanks, for the suggestions.
I did look at a map and saw it was about a 2 block walk from the SEPTA line to the hotel. Is that a big deal for 2 ladies at 10 pm?

The streets will be safe. You are just a few blocks from the Ritz Carlton, to give you an idea of the neighborhood. (Check out the lobby during your stay .) I just don't know how comfortable you'll feel making your way to street level. The city dwellers here might be able to tell you whether you go right up to the street or have to walk through the concourse for a bit .

I'd do the airport line to Suburban Station, no problem. There is a bit of concourse walk any time just to exit the station, but not much.

If you're not comfortable with the two block walk, there's also the Lady Liberty Shuttle and others ($10 pp for Lady Liberty for door to door in Center City, according to this: http://www.ladylibertyshuttle.com/?page_id=184) but of course there's the whole riding-around-dropping-everybody-off thing with that, plus the possible timing. On the other hand, it's a bit easier than finding your way out of an unfamiliar train station and to a hotel at night.

For food, there are, as Birdie says, tons of restaurants, but I also want to recommend something just a bit up the street from your hotel: DiBruno Brothers, for not only great sandwiches, but also absolutely amazingly incredible mozzarella burrata. (I love the truffle variety.)

Here's a list that might be helpful, although, sadly, the Naked Chocolate Cafe is no more: http://www.fodors.com/community/unit...iladelphia.cfm

Yes, DiBruno Bros. Yum! Also, across the street from the convention center is the Reading Terminal market with wonderful food, restaurant, and gift stalls.

If you're concerned and use the taxi as suggested above, you can get an idea of the cost here

Trip Report:
We had a beautiful weekend in Philly.
Since we arrived late, we took Liberty Shuttle to our hotel, Club Quarters. The price of that was very reasonable. It was a very small 2 twin bed suite with a tiny bathroom. Great because we didn't spend much time at the hotel. We ate breakfast both days at a Wonderful Bakery two streets south of our hotel. I will have to find the name. We did what we came to do and I took a side trip to the Reading Market. I was very crowded!! I didn't buy anything. After our conference presentation, we walked and walked (about 9 miles) all over Philly. Then we ate dinner at a great Tapas bar with wonderful music...Metropolitan, near our hotel.
The next morning after breakfast we shopped a bit and took the rail back to the airport. The Train station needs more signage. You have to know where to go!! ( or ask someone) We had great directions from the hotel staff, but had to ask questions several times. (and we met someone who asked questions when we did!! Ha!)

Thank you for all your help!!
~~TN Cricket

Thanks for letting us know how your weekend went. People often do not come back and tell us.
