Phila to NYC

Could someone recommend the best way to get to NYC from Philadelphia for just a day trip? Would it be useless to drive yourself? Is there express train and/or bus service? Thanks in advance!

Take the train. Service is regular and it's a lot less painful than dealing with driving and parking.

Hi....take the Septa from downtown Philly to Trenton and get on the NJ trains to New York's Penn Station. Always works for me when I visit my sister in Center City.

I agree train is the best option. No traffic hassles & no parking problems. Amtrak is fastest. You can also take a Septa (I think) train to Trenton & then change in Trenton for NYC. This is about 1/2 hr more time & about $10 less.

You beat me to it pinstripeboy :))

You can also take the "Chinatown Busses" which make a few trips everyday from NYC's Chinatown to Philadelphia's Chinatown.

It's the cheapest way to go, and only costs about $20 roundtrip!

Right you are Bo.

Whatever you do, don't drive. The NJ Turnpike may be the most boring drive in the entire continental USA, not to mention the lousy traffic and the near impossibility of finding a good "free" parking space in Manhattan.

There's also the Greyhound bus from NYC Port Authority to 11th & Filbert bus terminal (Chinatown/Reading Terminal area) in Philly. Runs pretty frequently.
