"Phantom" tickets in December

I know this is probably a topic that has been discussed before but I am going to throw it out there anyway. =) Our group (of 4) will be visiting NYC between 12/18 and 12/21. Does anyone know if Phantom will be playing on any of those dates? If so, would it be better to buy the tickets ahead of time or is it possible to buy them in NYC?

I appreciate any help that can be given.

Go to Broadwaybox.com and look at the discount codes. They are presently available for Phantom up through December 18 so if you want to see it that night, you can call Telecharge and order your tickets using the code given for a nice discount. Otherwise you'll have to wait a while before they extend the codes to the additional nights of your trips -- or maybe they won't since it become "high season" for Broadway. I suggest you call and get the discounts for December 18.

The odds are that there will be no discount offers for December dates after the 18th. And, since that starts the busiest time of the year for Broadway, I suggest you get tickets now.
And, yes, Broadway shows will definitely be performing all four days of your visit--a full slate on the 18th, 20th and 21st and only a few on the 19th.

www.playbill.com and register (free) and you will get access to all the theater discount programs. I do believe there is a discount offered currently for Phantom. Have a nice trip!

Thanks for the great info. I signed up for the playbill.com discount offers. One question that is not noted anywhere (that I can see), what is the dress code for Broadway. I have seen plays in London and I saw people in jeans and others more dressed up. Is that the same for Broadway?

There is no dress code. From your comments about your London experience, I'd say that New York theater is about the same.

I would agree that you should get your tickets now- Phantom played to full capacity all summer, and it will likely be the same during the winter holidays.

As far as the dress code, nothing is official- it's all about what you want your experience to be. If you'd like to have a nice evening out, it can be fun to dress the part. No one will kick you out for wearing casual clothing, however!

Thanks for the great information. I will pass it on to my group. I am just glad I have a board like this I can ask these questions too.

Thanks again!!!

I think New Yorkers tend to dress up a bit. So wear what feels right to you.

You will see everything from semi-formal to jeans.

Have a great time.
