I'm curious, do these hotels that allow pets have rooms that are totally pet-free (meaning they've never been occupied by pets) for those who might be allergic or who just don't prefer to stay in a room (luxury or otherwise) previously occupied by pets? Sorry if I offend anyone, but the concept of staying in a room previously inhabited by someone else's pet is just not appealing to me.

Generally, hotels that offer pet rooms keep them to a pet floor ( Monaco in Portland Oregon is the 3rd floor) and if the hotel is totally booked and there is just a room on the pet floor, they will tell you before booking it.
All rooms in the hotels we have been in, are thoroughly cleaned between guests, but we are talking about luxury hotels..they keep a pretty good record of things like that.
