Perfect Beach

My Husband and I will both be turning the big 60 this year. For his birthday he wants to go to Disneyworld - we are doing that in April. I have always wanted to rent a beach house directly on the beach for a week somewhere. Any suggestions where I could do that. Preferably in the States. Thanks

It would help to know what time of year you want to do this and in which states.

Renting a house on the beach - my favorite thing to do! There are so many options. You need to think about:
1. How much you can afford per week?
2. Which state do you prefer?
3. What kind of beach? If you want white sand, there are fewer options. I would then recommend the Gulf side of Florida, for example. Anna Maria Island area is nice. If white sand is not important to you, Kiawah Island in and its ten mile beach is fantastic.
4. Do you like seclusion and nature? Or do you want to party?

Here is a website solely for beach rentals:

P.S. I forgot one:
5. Free standing house, or condo?

Beware, a lot of rentals advertise themselves as "villas" but really are apartments or condos. Do a lot of checking, and ask the owner or rental agency a lot of questions before signing on the dotted line.

The flowered street section of Hollywood Beach, Florida. Wide white sandy beaches, powdery sand, caribbean tourquoise blue water.

Maggi, thanks for that great link. Muffy, I'm with Maggi, beachin it is also one of my fav things for vacation. In US, Cape Hatteras, Outer Banks, NC is nice, also the Okracoke Island suggestion is a good one. Siesta Key is another fav. Anna Maria Island is on my short list.
You've gotten some great suggestions. Time of year will help you make a decision. Happy planning. ((#))

Sunset Beach, North Carolina. One of the only beaches that's growing (accumulating sand) on the east coast. Clean and wide.
