Pennsylvania Route # 6--Suggestions??

Can someone give please suggest sights to see and places to stay and eat along this route that transverses northern PA? We have heard glowing reviews about this area for years and are now ready to "do" it. Tell us what not to miss.

Aw, come on...doesn't anyone know anything about this wonderful drive?

I certainly do know a little about it. My husband is from Coudersport, the county seat in Potter county, on Rt. 6. Yes, it is beautiful. I would recommend stopping in Coudersport. It's a nice town, with some interesting shops on Main Street. I would recommend eating at the Hotel Critterden and Erway's if you like the diner atmosphere.
Another area that is interesting is the PA grand Canyon. I go there every year in the fall. It's spectacular. You can hike, camp, see beautiful waterfalls, etc. The town to stay in when you go there is Wellsboro. They still have gas street lamps! If you would like more info., my husband and I would be happy to help you.

Hi! I can help as well. I live in Wells boro which is the county seat of Tioga County. Wellsboro is definately a place to spend some time. For more information and even a map of Rt. 6 you can call the Tioga County Visitors Bureau at 570-724-0635, or 1-888-846-4228. There is actually a formal organization that is reponsible for this promotiona and their website is www.paroute6.com.
Hope to see you in Wellsboro this year!

Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania is a nice place. The Eastern side of the Canyon was considerably more developed than the western one when i was there two years ago. Also of interest, though a little off Rt.6 is the Kane and Kinzua Railroad with the Kinzua Viaduct. There is state park there and they have train rides that take you to this quite impressive structure.
How funny! I posted a question asking if wellsboro was worth it. I had it on my list to see and then I noticed I was fitting a lot into 3 weeks, so I was starting to trim edges here and there. So, I guess, my answer would be to not miss Wellsboro!!

Debbie
