Pebble Beach

We are planning a trip to CA in August and my husband would like to play Pebble Beach? How far in advance can you book a tee time and how far from Monterey is Pebble Beach? Thanks

Don't know about booking (as always, google is your friend), but it's only 10-15 minutes drive from most places in Monterey to Pebble Beach. I suspect the 17-mile drive entrance can get backed up in summer; you might want to use one of the other gates.

I would say call ASAP to book your tee times for August. It may already be too late.

If your husband will be a single he can probably be worked in any time, but I recommend calling now and finding out for sure. My husband played Poppy Hills a couple of times while we were there and did not get tee times before we arrived in CA, but it may be harder at PB.

I called a few weeks ago and was told that they book several months out... I believe they are already booked until October. You may still be able to get a tee time at Spanish Bay or Poppy Hills. Also the Pacific Grove Municpal GOlf COurse is highly rated... lots of good golf in the area. Hope this helps.

If Pebble Beach is already booked for May, where would be your 2nd choice for my husband to take our son for his 16th birthday? (Anywhere in the US)

Do not assume that you cannot get a tee time. Call and find out. My husband liked Poppy Hills alot. He also really likes Torrey Pines in San Diego area.

Most if not all tee times will already be booked -- but many of those are twosomes/threesomes. If he is a single the odds are excellent he can get on. Do call them and ask the best way to do this -- a lot depends on the exacts day(s) you are there

gapper,

should you make it further South on your trip, I do recommend a round at Sandpiper Golf Course in Goleta, just North of Santa Barbara.
Super nice staff, great holes right above the sea, gorgeous vistas (not quite mint condition, but still good) and overall really worth it.

I also second the recommendation of Torrey Pines in the San Diego area.

PB is close to $400 per round now. Call for Tee time today.

I live in this area and have never seen the gate "backed up" in the summer. May happen once and awhile, but do not worry about this.

My husband's pick would be Spanish Bay... you can check out their website... the views are beautiful and the location can't be beat... you can walk a few miles over to Lover's Point in Pacific Grove. I'm sure you'll get lots of suggestions on this board.
