Pearl Harbour Visit Hawaii
Can anyone suggest best way to visit Pearl Harbour, should I take an organised tour or make my own way? Does public transport run to the site from downtown Wakiki? My time is limited, will I have to wait for tickets? Which parts of the site are the 'must sees'? THanks

It's Pearl Harbor. We don't use extraneous vowels.
You can google some of this information. Took 45 seconds. http://www.nps.gov/valr/planyourvisit/directions.htm |
My husband and I rented a car and drove. The exhibits are very explicit and the site is easy to navigate.

If you want to go out to the USS Arizona Memorial, use the site BigRuss linked to make reservations. Otherwise, you can just walk up and look at things.
We rented a car, so I can't help you with public transportation. Lee Ann |
To Big Russ- What do you mean by extraneouse vowels?

Thanks for your help...sorry about the extra 'vowels'...really? can't believe you would actually comment Big Russ....clearly not well travelled, I am Australian and we speak and write the King's english.Get a life :)

Well in Big Russ' defense, it is Pearl Harbor NOT Pearl Harbour. It would be similar to spelling Sydney as Sidney or Melbourne as Melborne. King's English or not, that is not how to spell the proper name.
Have a great trip. Pearl Harbor is a highlight of Hawaii and so rich with history. |

Your knowledge of my travels is nil. Aussies don't speak the King's English. Neither the King(s), Queen nor the English speak Australian. And if you want to get where you want to go, you need to state the proper names. It's harder to find the Harbor Bridge in Sidney in a google search than the Harbour Bridge in Sydney. |
IMO, seeing Pearl Harbor is incomplete without also visiting Punchbowl. They are the two ends of the same story.
AFAIK, only the Navy Tour takes you onboard the Arizona Memorial. (Maybe that's changed?) You can take 'da bus' or drive and park. Order tickets in advance if you can, but there will still be tickets available 'at the door' until they sell out. If you have a car, drive. It's hot, and waiting for a bus isn't a very good use of your vacation time anyway. |
