Patrick in Naples: What do you think???

Hi, Patrick! I have seen many of your posts in the past. I am in a bit of a quandary here: I am trying to book "somewhere warm"for Mid-March. I have a chance to rent a 2BR condo @ TheVanderbilt Beach & Harbour Club. I know nothing about this place! So...what do you think??? Can you describe it for me? Be candid!

Well, I don't know a whole lot about it, except it's just north of the Ritz, and almost next door to the Turtle Club. A couple month's ago, that immediate area was in great chaos with a lot of construction -- not sure if the worst of that is over now.
There are two buildings on this narrow little "island" between the beach and bay. One building is on the beach, and one on the bay, with the street running between them.
Like all those condos, you never know about the decor and upkeep as they are usually individually owned. Have you seen pictures of this unit? Does it face the beach, the bay, or the street?

The very best part? You can walk to the fun Turtle Club for dinner where you literally sit on the beach. And you can walk practically across the street to Buzz's Lighthouse and get a Grouper Rueben! You can also walk the beach to the Ritz or to LaPlaya, neither one very far.

Hi, Patrick! Thanks for getting back to me. The condo is gulf-front. I did manage to get some pix today. It looks "tired"....but, right about now, so am I!!! Maybe it will be worth the trip just for the Grouper Reuben & the Turtle Club...will every restaurant be totally packed in mid-March? Can't decide what to do here...tick, tick, tick...

Will every restaurant be totally packed in mid-March? No, not at all. Only the good ones. LOL. Hey, you'll be lounging on the beach in Naples. How bothered can you get by the 80's rattan and mica furniture and the giant cheap oil painting of a beach scene over the sofa? Put the cheap silk flower arrangements in a closet, get some fresh flowers and who cares?

And be sure to make something special for dinner each night -- reservations!

Ahhh, yes, always my favorite thing to make for dinner: Reservations!!!!
If we can get flights to Ft. Myers @ this late date, I think it's a go!

wow, I wanted to congratulate you on your decision, a real step in the right direction. You don't want to be paying for someones renovations, do you? When I've been in places less than top-rate, I often bring my own sheets and comforter. As long as it's clean, I can abide. have a great time -- mid-march is the BEST time in FL.
