Patric: need Naples shopping/restaurant info, please
 

Patrick, can you help a bunch of Red Hat Ladies from Lehigh, please? We would like to drive down to Naples for Lunch and find a nice, but not too expensive place to eat, and then we want to go shopping...Tin City? Fisherman's Wharf? Or where? Want to do this before *season*. Thanks so much for any help you can give us.

How about a reply from Pat instead of Patrick? I love Naples. We have gone to a condo on Marco Island for several years. There is great shopping in Naples. I am not sure what you want, but I would totally skip Tin City and Fisherman's Wharf or only breeze through quickly. It is touristy and has little but knick knack shops. However, there is an old town area that has great shops. As well there is some nice shopping in another older area. I am sorry I can't remember what it is called. There are lots of condo's in the area which are built up on stilts on the water. Additionally there is a typical Ann Taylor, etc. outside mall. Maybe with my response, this will be topped and someone with specific names of these places and addresses will be able to give you better info. In the old town area, there is a Tommy Bahama's with a nice restaurant. We enjoy going there for lunch. Someone else may be able to give you a choice with more local color, but the T.B. does have a nice area of outside seating. Their grouper sandwich is great. PJK

Thanks for the post, Pat. Now I'm feeling like a tourist myself. I've lived here for 28 years, and I've never heard of a place called "Fisherman's Wharf". Where the heck is that?

The "Ann Taylor" outdoor mall is Waterside Shops at the edge of Pelican Bay on the north side of town. It has a large Saks Fifth Avenue as an anchor. It is currently under major renovation and expansion, but shops are open.

The old town area downtown is Third Street South, and I think Tommy Bahamas would be an ideal lunch place for you all. There are many very high end shops in that area.

The "stilt houses" place is at The Village on Venetian Bay, along the northern end of GulfShore Blvd where Park Shore Drive runs into it. There are shops on two sides of the street.

Tin City is fine if you are looking for t-shirts, plastic alligators, and night lights made out of sea shells. Although there is a casual dining place, Riverwalk, there that might be a fun lunch spot.

By the way, at the Sugden Theatre on Fifth Avenue, we offer group tours of the facility for free. We've had a lot of Red Hat Ladies groups do that as part of their day.

Thanks to Patrick's advice last year, no 2 years ago, we ate at both Tommy Bahamas and Campiello's. Tommy Bahamas was great, and a "fun" restaurant. I will say though, Campiellos was fabulous. You can't go wrong with either, but I just had to put my pitch in for Campiellos! Enjoy annieladd

Patrick, one of the ladies mentioned Fisherman's Wharf and it didn't ring a bell with me, but thought it might be new. I'll pass along the information to them.
