Passing Along a SF Hotel Deal
The Galleria Park Hotel has a "Pay the Year You Were Born" rate. Check it out at www.galleriapark.com. I'm going to take advantage and pay $42 a night (born in 1942). It pays to be old.
What if they let you pay $19.42? Now that would be great!
This reminds me of a deal at the SAS hotels in Scandinavia where they gave you a discount in relation to your age. If you are 50, you get 50% off, if 75 you get 75% off, if you are 100 the room is free.
The only thing wrong with this plan at the Galleria, is that if you were born in 1900 your room would be free, but if you are a year older, born in 1899, your room would cost $99??? Just thought I'd bring this up in case there are any 103 year olds out there thinking of booking. LOL
Wow, that would be a great deal for me (born in 1960). What neighborhood is this hotel in?
Here's the Web site:

http://www.galleriapark.com/

It says there that it's in the Financial District, two blocks from Union Square and two blocks from Chinatown. The address is 191 Sutter Street.
As I said in an earlier post, this legit (we're going) but be advised if you drive that hotel parking is $30 a night.
Do you think Mona's IQ of 45 will get her a $45 rate? Oh yeah, the hotel is too close to Union Square anyway!
Who is Mona?
Mona is the SF troll who bashes Union Square every chance she gets. Surprisingly, she hasn't visited this thread yet...at least under the "Mona" moniker.
I posted info about this deal on Fodors on Sunday morning 10-20, just after reading about it in the NYT. By the time I got around to phoning for a res on Thursday10-24, all the rooms for the promo were gone except for the weekend before Thanksgiving. Guess a lot of earlybirds got the worms!
This is great news. Can I book the room in my one year old son's name since he will be with us? I assume that since he was born in 2001, it will only cost us a dollar?
