Paso Robles /CA Dinner Spot?
 

We're headed over to Paso to pick up some wine from EOS soon. I've never actually been to downtown Paso, we always head over to Cambria.

This time after touring some wineries we have yet to visit, I'd like to explore downtown Paso Robles. Any suggestions for a nice place for dinner? Which is better, Bistro Laurent or Buona Tavola? TIA ***kim*** (~~)

It may depend on whether you're in the mood for French or Italian. I think Bistro Laurent is a little more upscale with a slightly more sophisticated menu. But either should be a good choice. Downtown Paso is rather charming. There's also a nice, little wine bar facing the town square.

Any opinions on Paris? It got hit pretty hard with the last earthquake, I think they have re-built and are back in business, yes? ***kim*** (~~)

Paris is open. I've only been there for lunch but it was enjoyable. The atmosphere is casual. If you haven't been to the "westside" wineries in the area, you should visit some of them also.

Which would you recommend? I just saw on the pasowine.com website that this weekend is their big Harvest Tour thing! I wonder if everything will be really crowded? Should be fun, I better make a dinner decision and book, huh?

I'm interested in the reds this trip, to take up to our condo during ski season. I want to try some unusual and unique reds from the Paso area. ***kim*** (~~)

It should be a fun weekend to go. Among my favorites on the westside are: Doce Robles, Villecana, Wild Coyote, Tablas Creek and Le Cuvier. If you go out to the "far out" wineries on the westside, Justin (another good one) has a restaurant where you can have lunch outside--call ahead for reservations if you want to do that.

The lady at EOS just informed me that on Sun. various places will be holding the barrel tasting. That sounds so cool, I've never tasted that way. How I wish we could just spend the night in the area, LOL!! ***kim*** (~~)
