Express bus #501 picks up in Pasadena and goes to WBros making just a couple of stops along the way. The bus picks up at Del Mar Station, or at Walnut/Raymond . Drop off is a block walk from the WB tour entrance at Avon/Riverside Drive. For schedules go to trips.metro.net and just plug in your starting point and for destination put WARNER STUDIOS.

Lots of Pasadena is walkable, just ask your hotel desk for directions to Old Town Pasadena/ Colorado Blvd. Visit the Tesla store if cars are of interest.

Pasadena has turned itself around, and exploring the downtown is quite interesting. First of all, grab great food at Great Maple located at 300 E Colorado on the Paseo. We went for a very late lunch/happy hour and the food was excellent. The Norton Simon Museum is a gem, can be done in an hour or so, also walkable from downtown. If you enjoy beautiful architecture, ask your concierge about the Arroyo Historic District which is a lovely shade-laden neighborhood. If you're really into the Craftsman style, see the classic Greene & Greene "Gamble" House.

The Huntington Gardens and Library would be at the top of my list. Gamble House and Norton Simon would be a close second/third. Warner Bros. wouldn't be worth the effort to me.

If you want to visit Disney Hall, the Broad Museum and MOCA (all within 3 blocks), take the Gold Line light rail to Union Station. (The architecture of Union Station is worth a few minutes of wandering.) Then take the Red Line subway to the Grand Park station. From there, it's 2-3 blocks to the three venues. The Broad requires timed (free) entry tickets, so investigate availability. Disney Hall offers both self-guided and guided tours multiple times almost every day. Reservations required.

Also within easy walking distance are Angel's Flight Railway and the Grand Central Market. The top of AF is near MOCA, and GCM is at the bottom of the railway. You can find all of these, including the subway stops, on maps.google.com.

AFAIK, the Jim Henson Company Studios are not currently open for tours.

Oh goodness, how could I forget Union for restaurant recommendation, perhaps it was Maitaitom who referred us, and you could probably snag a seat at the bar as it is one hopping, popular place these days with reservations tough to get, but so so delicious.

If you do get downtown LA to Union Station area, don't miss The Last Bookstore on Spring Street; a historical and architectural gem of collectibles, artistically cut-out windows (of books!), and great reading material and vinyl. Check out its story on its website.

If it's on the menu and sounds appealing, the Squid Ink Garganellii (handmade version of penne) with Maine lobster, fennel, Meyer lemon and truffle butter at Union is stupendous.
