Parking - San Antonio Marriott Riverwalk

We will be spending Thanksgiving in San Antonio this year. My husband has traveled there many times & I've always wanted to go. We were able to schedule a trip to see the lighting of the Riverwalk. We have reservations at the Marriott Riverwalk and I noticed today that parking @ the hotel is $19/day. Anyone had experience with parking/traffic on the day after Thanksgiving? What are the chance of us parking on the street or using public parking? Or should I just be glad we're there & pay the $19? Our flight arrives in SA @ 3pm. Also, what about SA Riverwalk vs SA Rivercenter?
Thanks,
Deb

There are lots of public parking lots, but expect to walk a good way (up to 1/4 mile) to your hotel. Also, they usually are not guarded, so your car may not be safe overnight. Parking on the street is nonexistent.

We were there the day after Thanksgiving last year for the light parade and stayed at the Marriott Riverwalk. We had a room with a balcony that overlooked the river. The Riverwalk was absolutely packed with people down below.

I wouldn't worry about the $19 parking charge. It's definitely worth not having to hassle with trying to find parking.

Have a great time!!!

AUSTIN TRAVELER: We are staying at Riverwalk on Marriott points and will only be able to get a balcony room if our stars are perfectly alligned :-) I have checked the San Antonio website & see that they offer reserved seating for the parade on Friday. Do you (or anyone else) think it's worth the money?

Go for the hotel parking - well worth it. Street parking will be a pain especially around the tme of the parade.
The seats for sale are a great idea if you can't snag a balcony. There are other palces you could go to watch but you would have to fight the crowds.

Seamus is definitely the SA expert here so I defer to him! And don't be upset if you don't get a balcony room. They sell out very quickly for the lighting ceremony. I made reservations in August just to get a balcony room!

Thanks, folks. Any suggestions as to "prime" seats to try & buy?
