Parking in San Francisco

Hi, <BR>i will be staying at the abigail hotel near the in SF (near the civic center)in june. Any reasonable parking suggestions? Should I park outside and take the bart in?

If you're staying near the Civic Center of San Francisco, having a car will not only be unnecessary but a real pain. There is no street parking anywhere in this city, and garage parking is outrageous. Use public transport; SF has one of the best systems in the U.S. (which isn't saying much, but it's actually a quite good system).

The Sutter St Garage was marginally cheaper than hotel pkg lots. Also make sure that the lot you park in is open on Sundays. Once we got stuck in a lot that closed at 10PM Sat nite. Our hotel was blase and I had to call Hotel Mgt. to get the janitor back from fishing trip while husband sweated out Sunday morning after a meeting. The hotel is, needless to say, out of business. They are supposed to have signs posted....

There's a large public garage in Opera Plaza on Van Ness which might have multiple day parking rates. It is pretty grim in SF. Also one on Sacramento street 1/2 block west of Van Ness. Why don't you call your hotel and ask for their advice?

Hyatt Regency Embarcadero charges $21/day to park; Hilton wanted $14/day; Sutter Garage was 12 or $13/day. See what your hotel charges or check with chamber of commerce for suggestions nearer to where you will be in the way of public lots. SF is a walking town...you'll want to leave your car in a lot.
