Parking in New Orleans

I plan to visit NOLA in June. I will be coming from Australia and renting a car in Memphis because I will be touring Mississsippi and want to include New Orleans and stay near the French Quarter. Is there somewhere I can park at a reasonable rate for three nights?

Personally I would check w/the hotel w/whom you will be staying. That way it will be safe, w/no worries.

The ones I know from personal experience that have parking:

La Richelieu:

The Dauphine

There are others, those are the ones I have stayed and been pleased with

Graeme - I don't know where you fit in the age/$$ demographics, but you can find soup-to-nuts with B&B's with on/off-street parking in the Marigny neighborhood, which is just past Esplanade on the edge of the French Quarter. If you're of good health, the entire FQ area is easily walkable. The Garden District is another possibility, but don't be tempted to drive too much at night. Call United Cab and let the experts do the driving, especially if the evening finds out out at Tipitina's or the Rock'n'Bowl. It's not worth the risk of driving after imbibing - or negotiating the local traffic hazards at night! Having said that, some restaurants are much more accessible if you drive, and parking outside the FQ itself is a lot easier. Enjoy! btw - "BBQ" shrimp in NOLA will probably disappoint an Aussie, I know it did me - it's just broiled shrimp covered in sauce... but I'd never seen a shrimp as big as the one I bought at the French Mkt Seafood Co before, and I just had to eat it! I figured it was about the same age as me to be that large - about a pound!

The B&B idea is a great one. Almost all offer free parking!

Thanks Everybody. Plenty of food for thought. The reason I want the car park is because I want to be sure the rental car is safe because I do intend to walk in NOLA.
Thanks again.
