Parking in Charleston, SC

Anyone have any experince with parking in historic area of Charleston, SC? I donwloaded a map with 15 lot/garages in the historic district. One would THINK that would mean parking would be available. But maybe the lots are really small? I keep hearing that parking is a problem. So, if anyone has any first hand experience I'd love to hear it. Thanks

Isabel,
Below is a good link to available parking in Charleston. You can choose from parking garages (which I've found never to be full, except during Spoleto festival, parking lots, or street parking (which is hard to find). At the battery you can park for free. If parking at the battery we arrive early since these spots also fill up quickly (by noon).

If we decide to park in the parking garages we usually prefer the ones on East Bay St or the one near the College of Charleston on St Philip and George St.

Hope you enjoy your visit to Charleston.

Isabel,
I forgot to mention that if you click on any P icon on the map, a menu will appear on the right side of the map. This menu is filled with lots of particular information on that specific parking venue.
