Parking in Brooklyn, NY, Park Slope area

I am exploring the feasibility of driving to New York.
The place I'll be staying is just northeast of Prospect park between Union Street & Flatbush Ave. Are there parking garages nearby? Is it easy to find parking space on the street?
Any suggestion ? Thank you!

New York has alternate side of the street parking. And if are lucky that will be the only parking restriction on a given block. There could be a series of commands and instructions, possibly contradictive, that vary on the same block which make the Talmud a simple and straight forward document.

For alternate side of the street parking, people set their alarm clocks to gain advantages over other drivers and the swarm of gnats who hand out parking tickets or worse yet tow away your car. They double park amd then sit in their car for up to hour when they reclaim a legal spot.

Parking is easy ony in NYC ifyou live in a far suburban area with private houses - andyou can park in your own driveway.

Otherwise spots are hard to find and subject to a host of rules (above) which can make staying in the same spot all day difficult. Locals use numerousstrategies toclaim prime spots. You can look for commercial garages by checking iconparking.com or googling brooklym parking garages.

Map the location where you're staying on maps.google.com and then use the search nearby function for parking garages. You can phone for rates. If there is an Icon garage, they allow you to make a reservation and guarantee a price online. (print the confirmation and bring it with you)

Thanks for the suggestions.
I tried iconparking.com, but found only listings for Manhattan, could not find anything in Brooklyn.
The google map helps; shows 2 places on Union Street: 800 Union street and 841 Union Street. Anyone familiar with these 2 places?

There are three parking garages on Union St near Flatbush and Grand Army plaza-all within two blocks of each other.

They are mainly used for resident parking, all are active and open 24 hrs.

What is it that you need to know about the garages?

1. Park Slope Garage 841 Union St next to Tea Lounge (718) 398-0700‎

2. Square Park Corp 800 Union Street next to the Food Co-Op and the fire station (across the street from Park Slope Garage)
(718) 622-2351

3.Rapid Park 906 Union $32 for 24 hrs

Also are you sure that where you are staying is actually between Union St and Flatbush Ave?

As a rule, driving to NYC is never a good idea. Unless you're going elsewhere after or before, seriously consider getting here some other way and taking public transportation and/or cabs once your'e here.

oops, I just realize that in my original post I stated "northeast of Prospect park", but it is northwest of prospect park!
I called the two garages on the 800 block of Union Street. The one at 800 Union Street has daily charge ($21 per 24 hr.), which will work for me, as the other garage has only monthly charges.
RapidPark's $32 for 24 hr. is such a big difference from the one at 800 Union - I hope that man on the phone quoted correctly!
This will be my first time driving to NYC; I'll be coming from Canada, making a round trip then home. Hope all goes well, no flat tires or break down..... fingers crossed!

You'll be fine and good luck with NYC driving! If you get a flat tire, there are plenty of tire repair places on 4th Ave :-).
