Parking at Ford Field

Going to the game on Thanksgiving and we aren't familiar with the parking in downtown Detroit. I know there is a parade too! We have a map of many parking places and don't mind walking several blocks, but don't know where to start. Can anyone help us out?

It's kind of crazy because of the parade, but your best bet is probably somewhere near the Opera House or the new underground structure at the Compuware site. Also, I'll let you in on a little trick: park at Greektown Casino and just go into the Casino at some point and get the ticket validated. Free parking. But shh!! don't tell anyone.

You can also park in the Eastern Market area and take a shuttle to the stadium. I think that that's one of the only places that it's technically "legal" to tailgate, if you were planning on doing that. There is a silly law in Detroit against tailgating.

FYouSparty: I take it you're a U of M fan, good win on Saturday!

Cassidy, yep, I'm a Wolverine fan. The Eastern Market suggestion is good, but you can also tailgate in a number of lots closer to the stadium including the ones across the street from the 36th District Court. FYI. GO BLUE
