Parka in PA during February?

Hello everyone! This is my first trip in years and by myself. I wanted to know if I would be needing a parka for when I travel to Pittsburg on February 15. I'll be there for a full two weeks and I know I will need snow boots. I have two thick sweaters and I will dress in layers. Would I still need a parka around that time? It would be around 40-20 degrees around that time. (I checked.) I live in South Florida, so I think thats gonna be freezing but not quite sure as I never visited a place that gets that cold. Thanks in advance.

Yes. I grew up around Pittsburgh. February, definitely yes. Hat, scarf, and gloves too.

Thrift shops have cheap coats that you can wear and easily leave behind when you leave... $5 to $25 and cleaned before they hit the sales floor

Yep. I live in Tampa and I have winter things stashed for trips, so you could just hang on to whatever you buy for the next adventure. Enjoy!

February isn't Spring, it is often the coldest month of the year in many places. In Pittsburgh, it sort of alternates between January and February for the coldest month.

Yes, you need a warm winter coat. You don;t have to get an Eddie Bauer good for 20 below zero - but you need a real winter jacket or you will get frostbite Two sweaters may still be needed underneath it if you get damp and windy as well as cold.

And make sure you have warm pants - cords or wool - as well as warm snow boots
