Park Inn Santa Fe - your thoughts?
 

I'm searching for a clean room to stay in while in Santa Fe late August, and am down to 2 choices:
Days Inn Santa Fe, or Park Inn Santa Fe.

Days Inn has mostly abysmal reviews on tripadvisor. Park Inn is a mixed bag. I thought I'd come here to my fellow Fodorites and find out what the concensus is here.

Why these 2 hotels? The office is on a low budget, and these are the only 2 that are within our set budget. Help!

I've never stayed at either place, so I'm sorry that I'm not real helpful, but I would try hotwire or Priceline before either one of those. Maybe you can make a cancellable res at Park Inn and then bid on PL. I have had very good results in SF with bidding.

If you are going to be in Santa Fe during Indian Market ( weekend of Aug 23rd)...you may not have many choices

Have you tried Super 8? I am traveling to SF in Sept and found a good rate with good reviews on Trip Advisor.

Bingo! We'll be there for Indian Market, and reserved late in the game, hence the dilemma.

Not sure our office policy will allow Priceline, but will ask. In the meantime, anyone stayed in Park Inn? We're sweating over our available choices w/i our budget.

We stayed in Park Inn last October. It is a rather basic hotel, but it was certainly clean. The pool was closed at that time of the year. A continental breakfast was included.
The hotel offers a free shuttle into city-center (advance reservations required)so you can leave the car at the hotel.
Park Inn belongs to the Radisson hotel group.

If you are on a tight budget, you may not have much choice.

We went to Santa Fe for Indian Market...6 years in a row. Many hotels get booked up a year in advance.

Even if you can find a cancellation ...close to the plaza...it won't be as cheap as your two choices.

Ida, thanks for your review. All we were looking for was clean. We're a pretty low maintenance crew and just didn't want to be skeeved. Another coworker had stayed at the Days Inn across the street and said he'd never stay there again. So, Park Inn it is!

Dick, we figured we were too late in the game, so we're glad we found what we did!

If you're going to be there during Indian Market and aren't familiar with it, by all means go. It's amazing and the quality of the workmanship of the artists is truly first rate - some of it musuem quality. This isn't your run of the mill market

My suggestion would be to go to Indian Market ...early. It opens at 7:00 am. I'd be there by 6:30. Some artists sell out in less than 30 minutes and are gone.

Visit the youth section, the prices are more reasonable and some of the young artists are exceptionally talented.

As a note, there are shippers with boots at Indian Market that will wrap your purchase for travel or ship it home.

I have stayed at Park Inn, we nicknamed it "bedrock" as the beds were old, hard and uncomfortable. Where are you going to be going to in Santa Fe? Try Priceline too...you can name your own price and we've gotten great rooms a block away from the plaza for around $50 a night. That was at Christmas time, a really busy time in Santa Fe. Have fun!
