Park Central Hotel-NYC

Has anyone stayed at the Park Central Hotel in NYC (56th & 7th). If so, how was it? Good restaurants near by? Centrally located? Thanks.

Well, duh, it's centrally located.
I have no idea what the stupid post above was supposed to mean.
I do know that part of the Park Central is now a time share called The Manhattan Club. The rooms I have seen in the Park Central were small but fairly nice. The location is wonderful. Right across the street is the excellent Red Eye Grill. Just across the street is Molynos (sp?) a great Greek restaurant. The Stage and Carnegie Deli's are within a block, and there are many more. You can easily walk to all the Broadway shows, Rockefeller Center, Central Park, etc.
Sorry, I had too much wine whilst browsing the site the other evening. My apologies for my rudeness.

I think the name of the greek restaurant is Moltivos. I had aps their once. I heard the meals are terrific.

You can't beat the location. The rooms are clean and more than acceptable, but nothing real fancy.

Go for it.

I just stayed at the Park Central this Saturday night. It was fine - reasonably comfortable bed, very quiet (despite the fact that the ice machine was right outside our room!) and the bathrooom was very nicely done (far above average). The room was about average in size for better quality NYC hotel rooms. We stayed as part of a "promotion" that my lady friend received in the mail for Manhattan Club timeshares. In return for a night at the PC w/$129 (pretax) rate and free "gifts", we had to sit through a two hour sales pitch for the Manhattan Club time shares (they said ti would be 90 minutes). The are extremely professional and IMO fully disclosed all the shortcomings and negative aspects related to timeshares. If I had a different traveling style and more disposabel income at present I would actually have considered purchase. Naturally... after doing the real math it costs more than they want yoyu to think it does but there are some unique advantages to having a timeshare in this location (they are the only one in NYC). The "gifts" were to be either a voucher for two theater tix or a $50 lunch voucher for a local restaurant. Our tour was to be onsaturday afternoon prior to check=in. They callled us on Thursday, indicating that the theater tix vouchers would be in short or no supply status when we arrived on Sat and would we be interested/willing to do the tour on Sun at 9AM in return for two gifts? We said yes and ended up with a $50 voucher for lunch or dinner at Gallagher's Steak House and also two orchestra or mezzanine tix for Rent (based on availability for Sun-Thurs nights). Please note that we had only two restaurants to choose from and only two chows available (Rent and Chicago). Regardless... Rent mezanine tix are about $50-60 each at TKTS (when they are available - Rent discounts only 25% unlike most other shows). WE were given to believe that the theatre voucher had to be used same day but perhaps it was misprinted - ours is good until March 30 so we will go back another weekend to see the show. All told... we got actual value of about $150 in vouchers which = the cost of hotel room w/tax. Worth sitting through az sales pitch for that and the hotel was nice - not spectacular or really luxe but better than just acceptable.

The Park Central was Jackie Gleason's main residence while he was taping the Honeymooners. What better recommendation do you need.

BANG ZOOM AND AWAY WE GO.
