Paris...Which arrondissements should we stay?
My husband and I are traveling to Paris from London via train in September and we are not sure in which part to stay. We are leading towards the Latin Quarter because we like a lively area. We love to go food shopping at local supermarkets. Getting to know a neighborhood is important to us. Has anyone taken a day trip to Mont St. Michel? Has anyone eaten at the restaurant at the Eiffel Tower? We love history. Any ideas for something different?
Hotel names would be much appreciated, too. 3 or 4 star... Many thanks! |
If you want "lively", you probably don't want the 7th. We liked it there, because we wanted a more upscale and sedate place to return to at night. Many here like the Marais. Do a search on "Paris arrondisements" on this forum, and you'll turn up a lot of info.

we seem to have an epidemic of lost souls today. Yes - go over to the Europe forum
When you do the search Maureen suggests make sure you are on "Europe" first. |
Eurostar is the way to travel!
But please, put this on the europe forum. I think the area around montmartre is nice. For dinner you could try the montparnasse tower, not cheap and be there just before sundown. You could be having dinner on the 53 floor |
What is arrondissements? Sounds like a disease.

Post in Europe forum AFTER you do a search of that forum ... this topic of Paris neighborhoods has been discussed zillions of times.
5th (Latin Quarter) or 6th. I always stay in the 5th. |
