Paris to Rio

Can someone tell me how far the Paris hotel is from the Rio? I hear its a $25.00 cab ride..

No, it is not a $25.00 cab ride. You could actually walk it if you wanted to cross the bridge over the highway .. it is a short cab ride.

The distance is 1 mile. Cab fare depends on the time you go but I'd be surprised if it was more than $10. Your other option is to walk to Harrahs and take the free shuttle to Rio.

Loki,
You've been very helpful with all of my questions, I really appreciate it.
Any tips/advice would be greatly appreciated. Scheduled to leave on 9/23...

Just some general tips that I tell people when they ask me about going to Vegas, it may be too late for you for some of this...

Everything is further than it looks. I always rent a car, ends up cheaper than cabbing it.

I will go to the Bellagio Buffet every time I go to Vegas. I find it to be THAT good.

Picasso was the best French restaurant I've been to outside of France and the service was better than any restaurant I've ever been to.

There is some great entertainment during the day which is dirt cheap. Ron Lucas at Rio, Big Elvis at Barbary Coast.

Monte Carlo is one of the best places to play Blackjack based on the rules.

Each of the major hotels is an attraction on it's own. You'll be highly entertained just gawking. Time will fly, you won't complete half the things you want to do.

Just some random thoughts...

If you have any other questions, fire away, though keep in mind, I tell it how I see it.

Thanks, Since its our first time there I had planned to see the Bellageo,Venitian & the Mirage. My husband wants to go to Hoover dam so was thinking of renting a car after we get there, see how things go. Were going for 4 days and I hope we have enough time to do everything.
Definetly going to go to the Bellagio Buffet the first night. Going to Onda at the Mirage before the Danny Gans show. Seems like theres so little time with so much to do....

Another tip to save on walking/cab fares..all the "Coast" hotel properties have shuttles between them and the Orleans and I believe they leave every 15/20 minutes.

Hi Donna

Last December I walked from Paris to Rio at 9pm. I am a 50 year old male and a runner. Walking was a mistake. After I got off the strip and away from Ceaser's I noticed I was being followed by a youth with a hooded sweat shirt who was closing the distance between us. I picked up my pace as it was not a high traffic area. I took a cab back. It was around $10 to 15 with tip. If it was daylight an not 90 degrees I would walk again. I would not walk alone at night.

Have Fun

Wow, my husband and I are both runners also and I'm thinkin after reading your post that we'll take a cab, its worth the 15.00!! How do you find the shuttle schedules and from which hotels they leave from? Is there a web-page?

Dalles Sep 13th, 2003 08:21 PM

I believe there's a free shuttle from the Barbary Coast Hotel to the Rio. That will save you from walking all the way to Harrahs.
