Parents! Best national park for young kids (other than Yellowstone)? Resort lodges in the park?

I'd like to weigh in with another vote for Custer State Park. Basically agreeing with what the others have said. Beautiful location, great resorts in the park, lots of wildlife, so much to do in the area. Don't know whether anyone else has mentioned the Mammoth Site in Hot Springs. It's a must-do with kids. If you do decide on Custer, make your reservations as early as possible. The resorts in the park fill up quickly in the summer. We made our reservations in April for a July trip. We wound up having to take our third choice. We were very happy with it though.I'd also suggest doing one of their Safari Jeep Tours. And, if you decide on that area, consider spending at least one night at Cedar Pass Lodge in the Badlands National Park.
