Paradise Point Resort San Diego?
Does anyone have a recent review of this property? It looks quite nice. Thanks.

HI..
This is a great property in SD and I always forget about it because it is off on it's own.. My in-laws stayed several years ago before they revamped everything but location and activities are abundant and the food at Baleen restaurant is incredible!! Pricey but outstanding.. Barefoot Bar is a blast and you can rent small sabots boats at their dock they have like 4-5 pools a spa and the mature flora and fauna are gorgeous.. When are you going? I would get a room with a bayview if it isn't going to kill your budget. Have a blast! |
We're arriving the second week of March. What else would you recommend it that one isn't an option for us?
We have a 16 and 11 yr. old...(the youngest wants to be a Navy Seal. Do you know if there is an interesting Navy museum open) Thanks for your help, J. |
HI..
If the Point isn't available you can do the Sea Lodge Hotel in La Jolla ljbtc.com or the Catamaran or Bahia Hotels in Pacific Beach www.evanshotels.com We do have a big Navy shipped docked at the bay that your kids will love! www.midway.org 619-544-9600 March will not be as warm as summer but you will have a blast.. you can take a tour of the bay, go to Seaport Village and have lunch. I wish the Padres were playing at Petco Park but downtown is always fun.. Gaslamp District has great restaurants..The Holiday Inn at the Bay would be another option since it is right across the street from the Star of India and you can walk to the USS Midway and downtown too. www.beachcalifornia.com/sdholid.html Anthony's on the Harbor is good.. not great but good.. I love the Fish Market oyster bar or go upstairs to the Top of the Market..not a big fan of the restaurant downstairs.. you can take a water taxi to Coronado too.. Navy Seals train in Coronado at North Island.. Hotel Del is beautiful to walk around and see the grounds and the city is so charming.. Have fun in our beautiful city!! |
You might consider Loews Cornonado BAy resort.
Located just south of Coronado and across from the Silver Strand sandy beach where you may enounter some SEAL training areas. Also Balboa PArk has the San Diego Veterans Museum and Memorial Center which includes a very nice section on SEALS. The main SEAL museum is located in Fort Pierce Florida navysealmuseum.com LAstly if you take the SEAL tour (NOT related to NAvy SEAL) the motor craft is part car part boat and if you are lucky you may see the NAvy Seals practicing on their black boats in San Diego Bay.. |
Another reason I rely on Fodor's.. thank you for your prompt and very helpful ideas. Much appreciated by myself and my family:) J.

I stayed at Paradise Point last June and loved it. It's a beautiful property, my room was huge, and I could walk to PB etc.
Also the resort features tons of activities. I'd definitely return. |
We stayed there often before it was refurbished and the prices went up. The property is large and the rooms, as I recall, are pretty large too.
If you stay on the ground floor you almost always will have a patio, which turned out great for having an "extra" room. The grounds are beautiful and the pool is very large. You have a small frig so you might want to stock up on a few items from the grocery while you are there. At least they did, so you might want to check that out or request one. Take a cool chest if you can. We always had wonderful stays there. Even the time our 3 year old "fell" into the lagood. Oh yea, they have ducks and fiddler crabs too. |
