Paradise Point Resort & Spa, San Diego

Has anyone stayed here recently? I've done a search on it and have read mixed reviews. To read about it on it sounds awesome. The location near Sea World is good, but would like to know if your impressions of it are - clean, beautiful, with a feeling of being somewhere special, or paradise-like as the name would suggest.

Thanks for any thoughts.

I recently stayed there for a conference (not by choice). Any review which is linked to a site trying to sell you something is going to make it sound 'awesome'. PPR is not awesome.
I had a waterfront 1BR suite. It was like something straight out of 1975. It was clean and certainly adequate. But it was not a place you'd go for a romantic getaway, for instance, IMO. The resort is very spread out and has well cared for public areas. There's nothing bad about it. It's just not special in any way. It's very convenient to Sea World. I'd rate it 65 out of 100 overall if a Motel 6 is a 15 and a Four Seasons is a 90+.

the grounds are wonderful with several pools to choose from and a nice bar/restaurant in the outdoors. the rooms are basic standard rooms. very convenient to sea world and easy to drive to most places. the downside for me is that you have to drive everytime you want to go out for something to eat (except of course the hotel restaurants). mission beach is just a short drive away and has lots of restaurants but it is just a little too far to walk especially if you have kids.

Stayed there january 2002, most renovations were complete, except for pool area. The rooms are like bungalows spread across a vast area. the water is the bay so it is calm and dirty water. The rooms are decorated in bright colors (yellow, blue, etc.) feels tropical, but has an old era feel to it too. The rooms are not spotless clean, the bathroom is small, and overall you feel the rooms are old and have been renovated. It is okay, we stayed there for our anniversary, but would probably not stay there again for a special occasion. Thought it was very overpriced for 200+ a night. the restaurant and outdoor cafe there were very nice. hope this helps!
