Palo Alto: Recommended Mexican Restaurants?

Have to stay in the PaloAlto Area at the end of March (not complaining, just stating a fact). Would love to try some Mexican fair. Any recommendations? - not Tex-Mex please, just "Mex-Mex"
Also, where does one go for a wholesome margarita late afternoon early evening? Thanks!

The current Mexican favorite in Palo Alto is probably Reposado, which has the most wholesome margaritas around. Their guacamole is just delicious, and although the restaurant is pricey for Mexican, it is fresh and unusual. http://www.reposadorestaurant.com/

Since I'm not sure of the differences between Tex-Mex and Mex-Mex, I will say that most Mexican restaurants in Palo Alto are Cal-Mex.

Another place we go which is family owned with traditional flavors is La Morenita, but they only have wine margaritas.

Both of those restaurants are in downtown Palo Alto.

There are two in the California Avenue area: Del Sol, and Casa Isabel. Then, Celia's is on El Camino.

Let me know if you need any more Palo Alto suggestions.

Kailani, thanks. We'll give Reposado a try. (BTW there's no such thing as Mex-Mex; It's just a term I've coined in jest to differentiate my search from the "gringo" Cal-Mex or Tex-Mex)

There's also Oaxacan Kitchen right off California Ave. -- http://www.theoaxacankitchen.com/index.html. Though not terribly convenient if you want something to walk to near University Ave.

I forgot about Oaxacan Kitchen because I've only had their tamales at the Farmer's Market. That's a fun place to go to (on California Ave.) if you're in Palo Alto on Sunday.

Try Fiesta del Mar (or Fiesta del Mar Too) in Mountain View (near Castro Street). The Mole Poblano is fantastic.

Definitely more Mex-Mex than Cal-Mex or Tex-Mex.

Can't distinguish between the types of "Mex", but I will give a thumbs up to Reposado!
