Luxe or not? The three most upscale hotels in the area are the Four Seasons, Stanford Park, and Rosewood, all of which are within a couple of miles of where you’re going. I’m not sure below that level but I’ll give it some thought.

Thanks, sf7307. No, not luxe. My husband is from the general area, Hillsborough, so we know the lay of the land and don't need to be right in Palo Alto. Just need a clean, safe, pleasant place fairly convenient to Quarry Rd. which is off the Camino. No sightseeing involved. We live in Reno, but that's a 5 hr. drive. Just need a spot to crash.

There's a Residence Inn closer to Mountain View that is perfectly fine. There's a Sheraton right at the intersection of El Camino and University Avenue very close to the intersection of El Camino and Quarry Road. There's a Best Western a little farther north on El Camino. I'd probably go for the Sheraton if the price is right for location - very near your destination, and you can walk to University Avenue/downtown for dinner.

I might actually check with the hospital social worker department to see if there are discounts available, or any other options for housing nearby. I know the UCSF here in San Francisco has a list of B&Bs catering especially to patients families, as well as hotel discounts for some of the local chain hotels.

We stayed two months ago a couple of nights at the Residence Inn on El Camino -- for the Stanford/Cal "Big Game". Got a good price and includes free parking. The room was large and very well appointed, and, of course had its own kitchen. Wifi and breakfast included.
