Palms Place vs Hard Rock

My boyfriend and I are going to Las Vegas for two nights and cannot pick between a studio suite at the Palms Place hotel or a king room at Hard Rock.

We want the following things:
- Somewhere close to the strip - with shuttle service. They both have a shuttle but Hard Rock ends at 5pm while Palms is 8pm.
- A vibrant atmosphere.
- A great casino and a nightclub - we have a reservation at the Palms but we have heard that the nightlife is a bit dull, especially since we'll be staying on a Sunday and Monday night.
- Nice room (especially bathroom). We realise the room at the Palms would be nicer but just wanted to be sure that the room at Hard Rock is still decent.

Have you read the reviews and looked at the pictures of both these establishments on TripAdvisor?

You might want to do so.

From your other posts, it seems like this is for sometime in Nov?? I can't believe that you can't find reasonably priced rooms (I.e. cheap) ON the Strip. A shuttle that stops at 5or 8 pm?? Then you have to pay for taxi?

Both are off strip so maybe if only a two day stay you should look at a strip hotel. PS we have stayed at Palms Place a couple of times, superb ultra modern rooms and very sexy..You can always go clubbing somewhere else.

I have looked at trip advisor - but I enjoy the opinion of those on Fodors. And this way I can ask specific questions.

There's a cheap deal on Groupon, that's why we're picking between the two. And if you mean on the strip, as in Bellagio, Caesars, MGM, Wynn, then that's definitely above 150 a night, whereas with this deal it's 150 max for two nights.

Thanks for that lateagain, Palms does look very nice.

What are your dates and your budget? Then we can help.

DebitNM Oct 16th, 2013 01:46 PM

Did you even try plugging in your dates using the link I gave you? Weeknights or weekend nights makes a difference of course, but I see MGM Grand for $60 a night with drink credits.

I see other great prices to, $60 for Paris weeknights.

If you want to give me you dates, I'll even look.

What is the Groupon rate?

DebitNM Oct 16th, 2013 01:52 PM

ok I see the groupon is $150 for 2 nights. I don't think that is a bargain. Does that allow you to book Fri and Sat nights, if that is when you are going? IT may not.

And do realize that with Groupon you may get the worst rooms in the house.

DebitNM Oct 16th, 2013 01:58 PM

With the unlisted offers, the MGM Grand is even less with $25 resort fee credit for Sun - Thur last 2 weeks of Nov.

DebitNM Oct 16th, 2013 03:16 PM

And don't forget that Groupon price does NOT include the resort fee.

rachel_k_cassar Oct 17th, 2013 03:28 AM

Not for our dates - we're looking at 10-12 Nov but preferably 9-12 but Saturday night is just too expensive.
Our budget is $100 a night so we have up to $300 to spend.

At Palms you'll have Rio and Gold Coast across the street, both have shuttles that run til 12:30am. You don't have to be a guest of the hotel though if the shuttle happens to be full, hotel guests get priority.

DebitNM Oct 17th, 2013 05:49 AM

Using your dates of Nov 10 - 12 [I assume you mean nights of 10 -12, with check out on 13th]-- the unlisted offers show:

Luxor under $200 for the 3 nights;
Mirage around $210 for the 3 nights; same for Treasure Island.

You really aren't looking very hard. Good luck as there are deals around if you do a bit of work to find them.
