Palms or Rio Or Mandalay
Please suggest your favorite hotel. I listed some that seem good. How is the Palms Casino? Never been to LV. Looking for place with great pool.
|
If it's your first trip to LV, you need to avoid hotels off the strip.
Believe me, it kills half the "Vegas experience" if you're away from the strip. So nix Rio and Palms. Mandalay Bay is great. Its only downside is that's it's too far from most of the central strip hotels to walk (esp in summer!) but cabs are always available. For value and location, look at Paris and Aladdin. For best luxury look at Bellagio and Venetian (esp the new wing). For bargains without the most luxurious rooms but good location think about Flamingo, Harrah's and Luxor. |
Oops. Forgot you wanted a good pool.
That means avoid Harrah's and Luxor. That also means consider Caesar's. All the others above have good or great pools. |
The Monte Carlo has an excellent pool area including a floating river. Mandalay Bay has a wave pool and beach. We have stayed at both. Mandalay Bay is more upscale and the room was nicer. Monte Carlo was more centrally located. Both were good choices.

How about Tropicana?
|
There are reasons that the Trop is scheduled for demolition...
Best pool, IMHO, would be the Mirage! |
I might have to start new thread, but is LV over-rated? Or is perfect place to see at least once in your life. I'm more interested in nature and beaches, and I know NV has a lot to offer nature wise. Also, which month is best to visit for weather?
|
September and October have beautiful weather. I don't think Vegas is over-rated. I think it's something everyone should see at least once. It's beautiful riding down the strip at night when everything is lit up.

I think Vegas is a great place to visit and there is something for everyone
The Flamingo has a beautiful pool area 15 acres the rooms are OK but a good rate Enjoy |
I love Las Vegas. It's a great fun filled destination. It is something to experience at least once in a lifetime. It's easy to get "hooked" and go there once a year or more.
I have not stayed at Mandalay, but they do have really neat pools there. I have stayed at Monte Carlo and thought it was lovely, and very well located in the center of things. Caesars has a lovely pool also, but watch that HOT concrete on a hot summer day. Ouch! |
I've been to Vegas many times-August isn't the time to go!! 115 degrees is the norm! Definetly wait a month or 2. Go to weather.com to see the daily averages. We've stayed at Ballys & Luxor & New York New York. Bally's was probably the best for shopping & they have a decent pool. the Hard Rock (off Strip) has a great pool.
