Palm Springs Windy this wk
We will be in Palm Springs this Sat 4/2 for a week. I am watching Weather Bug with the wind alerts the past 2 days--up to 50 miles per hour. PSLocal mentioned wind in earlier posts--with the Sand blowing around does that mean the canyons + desert cannot be hiked or visited on the windy days? We are
in Palm Springs and are in what should not been the windy zone. How bad was the wind? Does it mess up being outside? |
The north side of PS is the windy part. If you are staying south of Chino Vista or Alejo you won't even notice the wind since the mountains shelter the southern portion.
You probably won't want to hike in Joshua Tree since it is north of PS but other areas should be fine. |
You need a report from someone who is actually there. When the wind is really going, anywhere next to a vacant lot is subject to stinging sand. It can occur south of Vista Chino.

Uh mlgb, I am there.

Well, we will be south of Chino Vista and west of Sunrise--so I guess we are in the right area. Other than the winds the temperatures seem perfect 80's day and 50's night. Any ideas on how the desert bloom is doing--it is supposed to be once in a lifetime with your rain this year--where are the best hikes for this?
