Palm Springs trip report

Thanks so much for everyones help in trip planning. We spent 1 night at the Orbit In and were very impressed. The rooms are very nicely done and offer many extras such as bikes for touring etc etc. I would highly recommend it and would certainly stay there again. Then on to the Willows which is always fabulous! Ate dinner at Pommes Frites first night- it was fine, not terribly special but nice outdoors and there was a table available during the Thursday night market. Then the motor cycles roared into town, and not another quiet moment!! I would make a point of not being in town during that again!! Had a very nice dinner on the patio at Le Valluris(sp?) and then El Mirasol- also great. We were disappointed that Le Provance had closed. Also, it was impossible to eat on Palm Canyon with the street closed and the bikers en masse.
We'll go back soon in the quiet and try all other suggestions-
Thanks again ps local and everyone else!

Barbara- thanks for the report. We are heading to PS next spring. What is this biker group and do you know if this is an annual or semi-annual event? Nothing against bikers, but we would try to avoid this time too.

Great Barbara!

I was downtown Thursday night and I noticed that La Provence was closed. Not sure what's up with that...

Yeah, that is why I mentioned the motorcycles before. Unless it is your thing it might get old fast. In response to Boots' question, it is an annual event in early October.

PS L

Barbara,

If it's not too personal, which room did you stay in at the Willows? Have you stayed in more than one? Is there one you'd recommend over another? Thanks for any info.

I'm happy to answer. I'm a travel consultant (too underemployed at the moment!) and love to see every room I can in a hotel. This time we stayed in Waterfall. It was lovely- very light, airy and private. The only slighly downside was that the bath had only a classic shower/tub combo- albiet with beautiful tiles. Last time we stayed in the Library which was fabulous, but not as light and maybe a little less private feeling. We saw Albert Einstein- similar to the Library but on the other side of the house, and the Loft- a smaller and less appealing room than Waterfall but with a very pretty bath- actually 2 bathrooms- both with big windows and 1 with the tub and the other the toilet.
Let me know if you have other questions. The only rooms I might avoid are the ones right by the pool. I haven't seen them but they look like they might be a little dark and lack privacy.

Thanks for sharing the details, Babara. The willows looks so romantic.
