Palm Springs restaurants closed for summer?

Hi,

I'm looking for Palm Springs restaurant for my trip at beginning of July and am seeing that some of the best (Jillians and Omri and Boni) are closed during summer months??? Can this be right or was it old info?? Help!!

Might want to check on chowhound.com. They've got a good CA board, and I'm sure you'll find answers there.

Many locally owned businesses close during the off-season, which in Palm Springs means the summer. You might try desertdiningguide.com to find restaurants and check for seasonal closings.

Many are open year-round. Some close for a week to a month, usually in August or September. Very few close for the whole summer. It is true that the higher end restaurants seem to be the ones that close for the longer duration, since a lot of their traffic is seasonal in nature. Not sure what Omri & Boni's summer schedule is. Their tel. is 760 773-1735. BTW, they are opening a new location on Washington St. in La Quinta.

Thanks PS Local..

Also, do these three sound like the three best, non-French places to hit (if open)...
Jillian's, Palomino, and St. James??

I like all three. I would choose Johannes Cosmopolitan over St. James. Also, there are a few other worthy mentions. Desert Sage in La Quinta is very good, and the La Quinta Grill is charming. Both are a long way from Palm Springs though. In Palm Desert, Pacifica at the Gardens at El Paseo has excellent seafood. I would recommend Elmer's in PS for breakfast. Inexpensive and usually good. A good lunch spot is Tyler's, a hamburger joint, downtown PS. It was one of the first A&W locations. And as always, Thai Smile. If you try the Red Chicken Curry and the Tom Yum Kai (chicken lemongrass soup) you won't go wrong.
