PALM SPRINGS-Relaxation & Spa
Hello! I am looking to plan a trip in the next couple of months to the Palms Springs area. I am looking for recommendations for resorts that have great spa facilities as well as an overall nice resort.....i.e. good restaurants, relaxing pool area and some activities....any suggestions???

I stayed at the Renaissance Esmerelda Resort in Indian Wells in Oct '03. I had a business convention there which started the day after my birthday. So, we went a few days early to celebrate.
It was a nice hotel with a BEAUTIFUL view from the room. The restaurant was wonderful (Italian) and the breakfast by the pool was great as well. The bar was lively, but I'm not sure if it was just our group or is always that way. There was a fun band. Ahhhh... and the spa... wonderful!!! I spent 7 days and did not want to leave! You didn't mention golf, but there is, as I assume all resorts there have, a wonderful course according to the guys at the convention. I have a framed photo of the pool area from my room with palm trees, cabana, walkways, "beach" area, a lake and mountains in the background that stays on my desk so I can "relax" on stressful days. Everyone always thinks it's a postcard! |
The most luxurious is the La Quinta Resort and Spa, we were just there over NYE. My next favorites places to stay are Hyatt Grand Champion (lush landscaping and many pools, Esmeralda ( and Marriott Desert Springs, also with excellent Spas. Next I like Marriott Las Palmas and I use their day spa when we rent condos. We had friends stay at the Miramonte, and they didn't care for the one pool.

I stayed at the Miramonte a couple weeks ago. I'm used to the Marriott Palm Desert so wasn't sure what to expect. I actually really liked it. It was a lot more intimate than a big resort - smaller bildings, older, smaller pool areas, really quite nice and quiet. The only negative - the poolside service was the worst I've ever had!!! Bad drinks, nonexsistent or bad tempered waiters, and room service charge (ie mandatory tip)tacked on to the bill. The last day I was there we were at the adult pool and we called from the pool and went to the restaurant 4 times in 2 hours with the promise of service each time - NO ONE showed. We finally gave up and left, even while we were changing, still no one showed. I'm choosing to chalk it up to the timing of our visit - about 1-2 weeks before the season started - but if it ever happened again, despite everything else being nice at a great price I wouldn't go back

A relative had a business trip recently and stayed at the Miramonte. She said it was very dated and in need of a makeover.
