Palm Springs-Looking for Great Swimming Pool
Hoping for some advice-my girlfriend & I plan on going to PS next February-we're looking for 2 things-a hotel in downtown PS & a fabulous swimming pool (my girlfriend has a foot injury so she doesn't walk well).
Many thanks |
Have you looked at The Parker Palm Springs?. Very hip hotel and outdoor area with two pools.
|
There are any number of places with good pools in and around the Palm Springs area. The better ones also have misters which makes it nicer during the hotter days but February should be very nice daytime weather.
A somewhat hip place is the Ace - a couple miles from the center of Palm Springs - a former two star hotel they made over quite nicely - and here is post from another travel page, and otherwise - just check out other places on the net. http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic...alifornia.html |
And good call Nicole. Was trying to remember the name of The Parker - great place with great pools/outdoor setting.
|
And the former Zozo - now the Hard Rock - also has a very nice pool and adjacent bar/restaurant area - a couple blocks from the main drag in Palm Springs.
The downtown Hyatt in Palm Springs also has a decent pool as I recall (it has changed ownership a couple of times but think it is still a Hyatt?) - and a couple of miles out of town going back toward the freeway - is another classic old time resort - that was refurbished a few years ago - whose name excapes me at the moment. Very nice and will think of it later. |
Ahh yes, - the Riveria. http://www.psriviera.com/
It was once host to many famous singers/entertainers. |
Also- there are a ton of smaller - more intimate type hotels (more motels really) around Palm Springs - and here is a list. http://www.smallhotelsofpalmsprings.com/
They may not have the big pools but they have the more quiet setting. We also used to stay in a timeshare at the Palm Springs Tennis Club and they have several nice pools. |
Wow-fantastic! Thank you-because of my friend's limited mobility it would have to be within a short walking distance of downtown-so definitely will look at the Hyatt & will look at the Parker. What about Hilton palm springs?
|
pardon my ignorance but what is "misters"? Also for me I would need shade (while sitting at the pool) so umbrellas would be a must.
|
The misters are pool boys with ripped abs that fan you and your girlfriend and get you drinks and food.
Ok...seriously. They are systems that force water through tiny nozzles to create a mist that cools the ambient air temperature. The good ones use high pressure pumps to make a fine aerosol that evaporates vs the cheapo models that drip-drip-drip annoyingly on your head when you sit underneath them. |
LOL PSL.
|
When we were trying to do s Hotel deal in Palm springs - I think I peaked into the Hilton but don't remember too much.
From the webpage - it looks fine. |
thanks Tom & PS-how is the hyatt downtown?
|
I like the Hyatt downtown - great location. Can't recall the pool but close to Starbucks, and good places to dine.
|
Thank you Tomsd,PSlocal. Anyone out there who has stayed at the Hilton PS?
