Palm Springs-Best luxury hotels

I am looking for a great, luxury hotel in Palm Springs. Suggestions?

Dont' know Palm Springs very well, but my favourite luxury hotels in the world are generally part of Leading Hotels of the World. Here's what they have in the area:

The Lodge at Rancho Mirage
68-900 Frank Sinatra Drive
Rancho Mirage, CA 02270
Tel: (760) 321 8282 Fax: (760) 321 6928
website: lhw.com
I just checked an old Ritz-Carlton directory, and the above hotel used to be the Ritz-Carlton Rancho Mirage. That may or may not appeal to you....

Just got back from the JW Marriott Desert Springs and would highly recommend it. The grounds are gorgeous, the tennis courts are great (hard, clay and grass), the golf course excellent, and the restaurants that we tried (with the exception of the Mirado which we left because it was too loud) were all wonderful.

The Westin Mission Hills is nice, big on golf but very pleasant. (Can you tell I'm not a golfer?) The heated pools there are lovely at all hours, especially at night under the stars! The Ritz Carlton is very nice I'm sure, but I was turned off to find out they don't heat the pool and decided to spend my money elsewhere! I've stayed at La Quinta several times and it's very nice. The regular rooms are nothing spectacular but the overall experience is good. Lots of little pools scattered around the property as well as a large pool. If you can, splurge on one of the second floor rooms, called starlight rooms as I recall. Nice mountain scenery nearby.

Are the pools at the JW Marriott heated? We're staying there next week.
